PuroLite C100 Softening Resins

Purolite manufactures the widest range of polystyrenic, strong acid cation gel exchange resins. These are used in softening and de-mineralization of water and in other special applications. The products offer high physical strength and efficient operation over a wide range of operating conditions.

These resins are a high purity premium grade bead form conventional gel polystyrene sulfonate cation exchange resin designed expressly for the treatment of foodstuffs, beverages, potable waters, and water used in the processing of food. Its specification is such that it will exceed the relevant EEC requirements, and the resin is in compliance with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration Code of Federal Regulations section 21, paragraph 173.25; for use in the treatment of foods for human consumption. Its high bead integrity, excellent chemical and physical stability, and very low extractibles content play a large part in its successful employment in these areas.

Ionac® C-249 is a premium grade gel cation exchange resin which meets the most exacting requirements of the household and industrial water treatment industries. Ionac® C-249 is a bead form, standard cross-linked styrene/divinylbenzene resin which has excellent stability and operating characteristics.

Ionac® C-249 is supplied in the fully swollen moist form and assures compliance with FDA regulation 21 CFR 173.25. Applications include: softening, de-mineralization, service-exchange and mixed bed polishing.

Centaur Carbon

Centaur Carbon can be utilized in the liquid phase for promotion of oxidation, reduction, decomposition, substitution and elimination reactions. Specific applications include chloramines and hydrogen sulfide removal from potable water and peroxide destruction. Centaur maximizes reaction kinetics with some increase in pressure drop compared to larger mesh products.

Designed specifically for removing or reducing chlorine and water-soluble heavy metals. It controls scale, bacteria and algae, even in hot water. The process medium received NSF International Certification and is certified by NSF to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 – Drinking Water Treatment Units – Aesthetic Effects. This medium is also in compliance with California’s Health and Safety Code Section 166875 (or commonly know as AB1953) and Vermont Act 193.

KDF 55 and KDF 85 Process Media can remove up to 99% of water-soluble lead, mercury, nickel, chromium, and other dissolved metals. All KDF Process Media forms are effective in controlling the buildup of bacteria, algae, fungi and scale, making them ideal for use in GAC beds, ion exchange resins, carbon block filters and inline carbon filters. Wherever our Media are used, they can eliminate the need for costly, and sometimes harmful, chemical treatments.

Calcite

Acidic waters slowly dissolve calcium carbonate media on contact to raise the pH. This reduces the potential leaching of copper, lead, and other metals found in typical plumbing systems. Periodic backwashing will prevent packing and maintain service rates. The calcite bed will have to be added to as the dissolved calcite depletes. As the calcite neutralizes the water, it will increase the hardness of the water.

Conditions for Operation

Corosex

By neutralizing the free carbon dioxide in water, Corosex can correct acidic water conditions and render it less corrosive. Corosex, being a highly reactive magnesium oxide, is used most effectively where pH correction is substantial or high flow conditions are in use. pH correction and media consumption are affected by a number of water chemical variables. Being soluble to acidity, Corosex will slowly dissolve and will need to be replenished periodically.

Filter AG

Clack Filter-Ag is a silica, crystalline quartz media which can be used as highly efficient filter media for the reduction of suspended matter.

Clack Filter-Ag® has many outstanding advantages over the more common granular filter medias used for suspended solids reduction. Its fractured edges and irregular surface provides a high surface area and complex flow path for efficient removal of suspended matter throughout the filter bed, typically reducing suspended solids down to the 20-40 micron range.

Filter-Ag’s larger particle size creates less pressure loss through the filter and allows deeper sediment penetration into the bed for higher sediment loading and longer filter runs. The large and irregular shape prevents the screening and caking of sediment in the top several inches of the filter bed as happens in the typical sand filter, thus preventing a rapid buildup of headloss and blinding problems.

Greensand

Greensand Plus

GreensandPlus filtration process efficiently and economically removes iron, manganese, arsenic, radium and hydrogen sulfide in municipal, industrial, and point-of-use treatment applications.

GreensandPlus has the same effective size, uniformity coefficient, density, weight, capacity, backwash and pressure drop curve as manganese greensand. In addition, GreensandPlus is much more resistant to attrition from high differential pressure and works well on waters that are low in silica, dissolved solids and total hardness.It can also be used in water over 70°F (21°C) without any degradation. GreensandPlus™ is a black, granular filter medium used in pressure-type filtration systems.

GreensandPlus directly oxidizes sulfide and catalyzes the oxidation reaction. Increased run length and service life of GreensandPlus may be realized by pre-feeding a solution of chlorine-containing compounds. Regeneration with chlorine should be initiated before the complete exhaustion and sulfide is detected in the treated water to prevent damage to the media.

As of November 1, 2012, Manganese Greensand is no longer available.

Birm

Birm

Birm® is an efficient and economical media for the reduction of dissolved iron and manganese compounds from raw water supplies. It may be used in either gravity fed or pressurized water treatment systems. Birm acts as an insoluble catalyst to enhance the reaction between dissolved oxygen (D.O.) and the iron compounds. In ground waters the dissolved iron is usually in the ferrous bicarbonate state due to the excess of free carbon dioxide and is not filterable. Birm, acting as a catalyst between the oxygen and the soluble iron compounds, enhances the oxidation reaction of Fe++ to Fe+++ and produces ferric hydroxide which precipitates and may be easily filtered.

The physical characteristics of Birm provide an excellent filter media which is easily cleaned by backwashing to remove the precipitant. Birm is not consumed in the iron removal operation and therefore offers a tremendous economic advantage over many other iron removal method

MTM

MTM Media

Clack MTM® is a granular manganese dioxide filtering media used for reducing iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide from drinking water. Its active surface coating oxidizes and precipitates soluble iron and manganese. Hydrogen sulfide is oxidized to sulfur. The precipitates are filtered out in the granular bed and removed by backwashing.

MTM® consists of a light weight granular core with a coating of manganese dioxide. MTM® is an example of contact oxidation where the media itself provides the oxidizing potential. This allows for a much broader range of operation than many other iron removal medias. A pH level as low as 6.2 can be treated. Dissolved oxygen is not essential. The media’s light weight reduces backwash water requirements.
